Glenn,
I wanted to drop you a note and let you know how the boat is doing. We just pulled it from storage, changed the oil, fuel filter, and cleaned it up for the 2008 season. As I expected, it cranked right up and sounded great. We can't wait to get on the water.

I am so happy to include in this letter a blanket recommendation for you and your services. The complete replacement of my motor was unfortunate last year. You and your team worked to get me back in the water with as little down time as possible. When I spoke with you, the communication was clear and helpful. The work was performed well and I am confident no short-cuts were taken. I have and will continue to offer a recommendation of your shop to those I come in contact with. I do so without hesitation and know you will treat them respectfully and perform at your best.

It appears this coming weekend is one to be on the water. We will take my Shamrock 30 miles and beyond without thinking of engine performance. We can concentrate on the fishing. Thanks again for all your help. You may pass my contact information on to any prospective clients if they would like to speak to me about your services. I will be happy to provide input or assurance that the job will be done right.

Glenn,
A quick note to say thanks for several things. First, your responsiveness in getting me scheduled on short notice and working around parts deliveries; second, for providing the right maintenance recommendations based on my boat, hours, and time of year; and third, for the sea trial follow-up when I thought "it just doesn't feel right" to ensure everything was as is should be.

Glenn,
I'm back overseas now in Qatar, but I wanted to pass on to you and the folks who worked on my boat my appreciation for the outstanding work your mechanics performed. I have been here in the Middle East now for 9 months and only had 15 days at home with the family before I had to
return. My kids had been looking forward to going out on the boat all summer long...I know it is a small boat, but our family has been enjoying that boat for over 16 years. You can imagine the disappointment when we could not get it to run properly. However, after picking the boat up from your shop we went out in it everyday and it ran just like a brand new one. It meant a lot to me to be able to enjoy the kids having so much fun out on the boat. I just wanted you to know I will recommend your business anytime I run across someone having boat trouble. It is truly refreshing to find a first rate business that can be trusted and stands behind its work.

Thank you for the fast and reliable service!

Glenn & Crew from ABC Marine:
After replacing a blown engine and bad transmission my 1983 SeaRay is running great. I certainly appreciate all the personal attention I received while my boat was down for repairs. I was also very pleased with the professionalism displayed each and every visit I made to the shop while my boat was there. I have passed on my positive results to the many folks I see every week while working in a local boating and marine supply store.

I have and continue to recommend ABC Marine for general boat repair and especially any engine repairs.

I would like to take this time to thank you for your help and getting the new motor for my boat. My 87 Sea Ray motor was driving me nuts. The motor was on its last leg and I did not know that even after we replaced some parts on how long it would last. I finally decided that the best way to go was to look for a replacement motor. After searching the web, my mechanic said to forget rebuilt (still no guarantee on what you are getting) and told me one of his contacts had heard about your company and said to give them a try. After checking your web site, I made a call to your office where you gave me information on what was available. After hearing the pricing you were giving me, I felt it was hard to believe that I was actually getting a brand new motor dressed. Also, with your company not being in the same state, I was a bit leery.

With this in mind, I must commend you for always getting back to my requests in a timely manner and for two the references you sent me. They all raved about the service that you have given them. They mentioned you by name, not just by how good Boat Tune is. I have never had somebody actually call me back on a vendor use with such high regard. I also felt that you knew the products very well and what my needs were and not trying to make a quick sale.

After I made the decision to go with you guy, you made sure that all items shipped when they were supposed to and kept me updated on their delivery.

The guys in the boat yard were quite impressed with the motor. I was getting my chops broken for not putting the freshwater kit in right now, but money is an issue (I plan on putting it in my next season). They did not want to see this motor ruined for any reason, neither do I.

What also impressed me was, the whole time you kept checking into see how we were making out. It shows that you were not in it just for the sale.

Well, now that the motor is in the boat, I couldn't be happier. It is living up to what I expected from the boat when I bought it last year. I owe a lot of this to you and your company. Please be assured that any time I hear of a need for a boat motor or parts from friends and fellow boaters, I will be sending them to your for assistance. Even my mechanic will be calling you for future requests.

Glenn, again, I would like to thank you for saving the rest of this boating season. Sorry that you are no longer a Long Islander, but I am quite glad you were able to help me out.

Thank you for your help with my Cobra Outdrive. Other people I called would have to work very hard to match your professionalism and customer service. Your company was both competitive in cost and customer friendliness. I look forward to many hours of enjoyable boating with my new outdrive. I will, without hesitation, recommend your company to my friends.

I have been negligent in writing and thanking you concerning the outstanding job your team performed on my 25' MAKO. Glenn's evaluation, recommendations, guidance and advice were absolutely the greatest asset in helping me make my decisions. He would give me pros and cons and then suggest I do additional research before making my decision. His advice was always right on target. Probably once or twice he wished he had never taken the job as I would call and ask about something else. When we were shopping for motors, he would give me the right questions to ask and make sure that people were giving the straight information. His advice on the Yamahas was on the nose. Even when I found a used pair (1 year old), several thousand dollars cheaper, he reminded me that these were not the fuel injected and that in the long run, I would be spending more. His attention to the details of coordinating the trasom and keel work with Dynamic Fiberglass mounting the motors, and changing the console layout inserts made the package even better. I was impressed with the work Mike and his crew at Dynamic Fiberglass performed. Great job!!

Mark is the greatest! On several occasions while the work was progressing, I would drop by to check on things. I found Mark's attention to details and thoroughness refreshing. If he made a connection, he put electrical sealer on it. He studied the manual and had a detailed list to work from, and kept a check sheet of potential issues to look for. When we took her out for the lake test, he was extremely thorough in making sure everything was just right and just the way I wanted it. It is obvious that he takes great pride in his work! Something I greatly appreciated.

Mike kept everything on schedule, on track, and kept me informed as to where, when, and what I needed to do. Whether it was to decide on some detail, find some unusual replacement part, or get something. His coordination and working schedule and details absolutely made the job go great.

Between Christmas and New Years, I finally got to run the boat. I was impressed! The boat jumped right up and out of the water and pulled u on plane like never before. With the counter rotating props and the higher transom the bow is down where it should be and I don't have to stand on my "tippy toes" to see over the bow when on plane as with the old motors. She starts instantly and the Yahamas are very quiet. (Something my wife loves about the new motors, she doesn't have to yell to be heard). My "bottom line" is getting a face-lift as I have put on new rub rails and started replacing hatches and other little things to dress her up a little more. I found the original MAKO brown rub rails, stainless end caps (with the shark) and am gradually replacing the teak trim pieces with black "Starboard" to continue the look started on the console.

You have the best assets a company could ever have and anyone could ever ask for; dedicated, honest, and conscientious employees. Glenn did it all while you were out and did an outstanding job. You have a great team at Boat Tune. I never trusted many people to perform mechanical work because so many just slap it together, and not conscientious about the details and I seriously wonder about their honesty and integrity. Boat Tune is the exception! I have always told my friends that Boat Tune is the only place in town to go for repairs, because they are honest and conscientious. Thanks again for the wonderful job on 'my baby' and I wish Boat Tune and outstanding century.

I am very pleased that you are now available to help me with the parts that I need for my boat.  This year, unlike the previous years, I as not able to get the kind of service from Boat Tune that I had been accustomed to. I have not purchased any parts from Boat Tune because when I called to speak to someone, they either did not know what I was talking about or took too long to get back to me. Specifically, I was interested in purchasing a complete XR Mercruiser Drive unit, but between the delay and confusion about how it is sold (lower unit by itself, upper by itself, different gear rations and low water pickup, etc.), it took weeks to get a price. By that time, a decision was made to rebuild the old one. I know, if you were handling that inquiry, the answers to all of those technical questions would have been resolved immediately.

I remember the time I had a problem with which Thermostat Housing belonged on my engine. There was so much confusion between the new design and old design and the new superceded numbers that referred back to the old design, because the new design was discontinued. Thank goodness you knew exactly what I was talking about and that the information I received from my local Mercruiser Dealer was wrong. If you had not directed me to the right model housing, I would have ordered the wrong housing and probably had a special order that I would not be able to return or would have been charged a re-stocking fee.

Dealing with you makes my boating life easy. Whenever I encounter a problem with my boat, you always have the answer right at your fingertips and from my experience, your advice is always right on the money. It's a pleasure to talk with someone who knows so much about boats and makes my parts purchase simple. Regardless of how complicated the conversation becomes technically, you always know exactly what I'm trying to convey, even if I'm not saying it correctly. Bottom line is, I am always satisfied with your help and guidance and know I can rely on you completely for any purchases for my boat.

Thank you for your patience with my decision to purchase the outboard motor. Enclosed is a check to cover the 2003 90 HP Suzuki 4 stroke outboard, 20" shaft, aluminum prop with a 19" pitch, 2 x 17 foot control cables, main wire harness, key switch, top mount binnacle control box, tachometer, freight and shipping, and the kitchen sink! As this is a personal, out of state check, I understand that it will take several days for the check to clear and Ben informed me that it will take up to 10 days to get the motor, as you do not have it in stock. This is fine because it is 8 degrees outside in the new North Pole called New York. All I ask is that you advise me when the motor is shipped along with the tracking number. I appreciate all the assistance that you have provided, and I will gladly advise anyone looking to buy a new outboard to consider Boat Tune.

In February 2004, I purchased a MAKO/135 Optimax from the Orlando store. I arranged Pickup 8 days after ordering and purchasing to have the vessel thoroughly checked out, because I live 325 miles from Bass Pro Shop in Orlando. When I arrived to accept delivery the boat was filthy and had several minor problems that should have already been resolved. For example, a broken floor hatch, front locker latch and a stern cleat was tarnished (the finish was obviously flawed). I reluctantly accepted delivery, because I knew that I would have to revisit Orlando in three weeks for a business meeting. The boar also had the wrong seating installed. I was given the chairs and told I would have to replace them myself! He would have to charge me if Bass Pro Shops replaced the seats. This was after being told on the telephone of the exact specifications that I was looking for I gave a deposit and agree upon a delivery date a week later for ample time to prepare the boat. As I previously said, it was not even washed!

Three weeks later, I returned to Orlando for an over heating problem on the 135 Optimax. The tech, Roy Lesser had scheduled to look at the engine, while I was in town. He claimed to have repaired the engine.

After returning home (a 700 mile round trip) the boat seemed to function okay until July 4, 2004, the overheat sensory really went off. I called my local authorized Mercury Dealer requested service because I was going on vacation in four days in Destin, Florida. He worked on the engine and even charged me because a warranty claim was a hassle. On July 8, 2004 late afternoon, I arrived in Destin and decided to take out my new boat. It ran three miles out, overheated and I had to be towed in ($300.00).

It was now 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2004. I put the boat on the trailer and pulled it to Bass Pro Shop in Destin. Glenn, the service manager met me. I explained my situation and how I was considering never doing business with Bass Pro Shops again. (Did I mention this is the second boat I purchased in three years, a total of $50K in boats?) He explained the busy nature and he would personally attempt to repair my boat Friday, July 9, 2004. Glenn called at 10:00 a.m. to inform me of progress and again at 12:00 p.m. to tell me that he was finished repairing the engine and was taking it out to water test. I went to Bass Pro Shops at 3:00 p.m. the boat was ready to go. He explained that the water pump impellor was defective and he did not understand how it had been missed. I ran the boat on Saturday and Sunday, July 10 and 11, 2004 perfect water PSI that it never had before.

Glenn as other Service Departments are very busy this time of year especially on a Friday, I really feel he should be recognized for restoring the faith in a company such as Bass Pro Shops. Due to Glenn, going to an extra effort I and my family were able to salvage the remainder of the weekend. Glenn also gave me a follow up call on Sunday, July 11, 2004 to check on the performance of my boat.

Because of Glenn Leatherman, I'll purchase another craft, and keep my business relationship with Bass Pro Shops. Finally, due to my faith in Glenn, I will trailer my boat to Destin Bass Pro Shop for any further service. It is a 150 mile trip one way.
